Welcome To Pikeland Community Unit School District #10

Our mission is to provide the means for a positive learning environment so all students are given the opportunity to reach their full potential, enabling them to succeed in a changing world.

We believe...

  • students, parents, teachers, support staff, administrators, and community members must set high expectations for student learning and behavior.
  • students come from a variety of backgrounds and have different learning and support needs.
  • good teachers and good teaching practices are vital to the success of our students and our school.
  • the purpose of public education is to provide all students with the necessary training and experiences to become productive citizens.
  • an actively engaged community is crucial to each student's success.
  • education is the responsibility of all citizens.
  • the success of our students and our schools depends upon a working relationship between students, parents, the community, the board, and the school staff.

Illinois lawmakers last week approved the FY17 budget for elementary and secondary education. This means schools across the state will get their funding for the upcoming school year. At this time, the Pikeland District is scheduled to receive approximately $4,365,000 in general state aid or GSA.  This is almost $90,000 more than we received from the state last year, but is still well under the approximately $4,900,000 we received each year before funding was cut drastically in 2012.
