TA-Day 2
SRO Connection: April 28, 2022 Pikeland students are reminded to keep bikes on the bike path and not to cross the access road other than at crosswalks. Warm weather is the perfect time to go for a bike ride. Whether daytime, dawn, dusk, bad weather, or at night, make yourself visible to others. Wear neon, fluorescent or other bright colors when riding, to be most easily seen. Wear something that reflects light, such as reflective tape or markings, or flashing lights. Remember, just because you can see a driver doesn’t mean the driver can see you.

SRO Connection: April 14, 2022 As part of your spring cleaning it is important to check and ensure all smoke and carbon monoxide alarms are functioning properly and have fresh batteries. Installing a smoke alarm inside each bedroom, outside sleeping areas, and on every level of a home including a basement is recommended by the National Fire Protection Association.

Music Program Shout Out! The Pikeland Music Program held its annual fundraiser (community music concert/meal) on March 25, 2022. Due to the pandemic and mitigation requirements, the program was not held in 2020 or 2021. Beyond the outstanding student performances....some details of the evening are below. 830 pulled pork sandwiches were sold. It is anticipated the fundraiser will net around $4,300 for the music program. 55 adult workers contributed to the success of the evening. Beyond sharing their musical talent, 30 student workers served or helped with clean-up. Thank you to those who organized, worked and/or attended this event. A special thank you to the music instructors and the students...your dedication was noticed and appreciated. It was a great evening!

Dear parents, Due to the decrease in COVID numbers, we are making plans to start moving all students back to the cafeteria for lunches. The process will be gradual, moving approximately 25% of the students at a time back to the regular cafeteria area. This will be followed by a period of time to assess any changes in Covid numbers and develop new routines. If the numbers continue to be good we will follow this process and continue to move groups until all students are back in the cafeteria. We are hoping to start the process this week. Please contact Mrs. Jockisch or Mr. Frieden if you have any questions. Lisa Jockisch, Principal 6-8 Jon Frieden, Principal 3-5

The chaperones would like to thank all of the PCS students who rode the fan bus to last night's game! Our kids did such a great job cheering the girls on. They were fantastic on the buses and very pleasant and polite to everyone the entire evening! We were so proud of all of them. We would also like to thank the parents for giving their children the opportunity to have this experience! Our hearts are full this morning!

I want to give a huge shout out to Saukee Nation and Illini Hospital! They are donating the cost of our fan bus(es). Thank you for your generous donation! We are truly blessed in this community! Okay junior high students, let's paint our faces, put on our rally caps, and cheer our 7th grade girls to a victory! Unfortunately, IESA doesn't allow signs or banners but we have enough spirit without them!

PCS will be taking a fan bus to the 7th grade girls' sectional game on December 1. All 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students are welcome to ride the bus. There will be a fee to ride the bus and we will post the cost as soon as we have that information. Students need to sign up in the PCS office if they plan to ride the bus. Let's pack the house and cheer the Lady Braves to a victory!
