South School Snapshot - Week of September 8, 2026

The first three weeks at South School have been packed full of fun activities. The students participated in South Start Strong lessons where the expectations for various areas of the school were introduced. The students learned how to Stop, Think, and Act in all of these areas. In addition to the teachers spending time working with the students on the routines and procedures of their new classrooms, the students enjoyed attending the Homecoming parade, being greeted by members of the PHS football team, and spending time outside!

Good evening South School families. Below are a few reminders that I want to be sure are on everyone's radar! On Friday, September 4 all Little Braves are encouraged to support the Pittsfield Public Library by donating $1.00 and wearing red, white, and blue. Additionally on Friday, South will dismiss at 2:35 p.m due to the holiday weekend. On Monday, September 7, South will not be in session in observance of Labor Day. Congratulations to Mrs. Kate Marable and Mrs. Bethany Williams. These two South School teachers came in 1st and 2nd place respectively in the Wal-Mart Countywide Teacher of the Year Contest.

Students could submit nominations as to why a specific teacher was deserving of this award. Wal-Mart had a committee that reviewed all nominations and from those Mrs. Marable was chosen as the overall winner.

Several South School teachers were nominated, some with multiple nominations. Thank you to all of the students who took time to recognize their favorite teachers.

Thank you to Wal-Mart for bringing cupcakes to South School to celebrate these two amazing teachers as well as for providing the prizes the teachers received.

South School Weekly Snapshot - 5/10/26

South School Reminder - Thursday, May 7 is an early dismissal for SIP Day.

Students will be dismissed at 1:20 p.m. There will not be afternoon preschool.

April was a fun month for our Little Braves! It started with April Fool's Day, followed by Easter activities, the PHS Drama Play Preview, and Week of the Young Child fun. Add to these the 2nd grade family bowling night, PHS Show Choir tour, Big Truck Night, and it ended with the 2nd grade field trip today. Thank you to every staff member, parent, and community member that contributed to this fun month!

PHS students Emma Dippel and Madelyn Saxe recently visited Mrs. Frieden’s Kindergarten class to read a story about farms during Ag Literacy week. We are so thankful when FFA students come in to teach our younger students about agriculture and it's even better when these students are former South School Little Braves! Thank you, Mrs. Allen
