Congratulations to Mrs. Kate Marable and Mrs. Bethany Williams. These two South School teachers came in 1st and 2nd place respectively in the Wal-Mart Countywide Teacher of the Year Contest.
Students could submit nominations as to why a specific teacher was deserving of this award. Wal-Mart had a committee that reviewed all nominations and from those Mrs. Marable was chosen as the overall winner.
Several South School teachers were nominated, some with multiple nominations. Thank you to all of the students who took time to recognize their favorite teachers.
Thank you to Wal-Mart for bringing cupcakes to South School to celebrate these two amazing teachers as well as for providing the prizes the teachers received.

South School Snapshot - 5//4/26
April was a fun month for our Little Braves! It started with April Fool's Day, followed by Easter activities, the PHS Drama Play Preview, and Week of the Young Child fun. Add to these the 2nd grade family bowling night, PHS Show Choir tour, Big Truck Night, and it ended with the 2nd grade field trip today.
Thank you to every staff member, parent, and community member that contributed to this fun month!

PHS students Emma Dippel and Madelyn Saxe recently visited Mrs. Frieden’s Kindergarten class to read a story about farms during Ag Literacy week.
We are so thankful when FFA students come in to teach our younger students about agriculture and it's even better when these students are former South School Little Braves!

April 13 - 17 is the Week of the Young Child! South School utilizes this week to highlight various opportunities for our students.
To bring fun to each day the students and staff are encouraged to participate in the dress up days! A paper copy of the the dress up days will be coming home on Friday.
Additional activities include the Scholastic Book Fair being open to students during library time throughout the entire week, Kindergarten Camp Night #1 on April 13, Preschool Family Night on April 14, 1st and 2nd grade Puppet Troupe on April 16, and the Scholastic Book Fair Family Night on April 16.
Students are invited to join Crocs and Socks Day at South School on Friday!

Thanks to the school-wide Title Reading program, each South School student will be coming home with a new book!
The South School staff hopes all of our Little Braves and their families have a wonderful spring break.

February's Family Fiesta Night at South School was a hit!
For the meal, the Family Meal Planning Team provided ingredients for beef nachos along with kid friendly safe knives and cutting boards.
All fresh Ingredients were purchased locally from Ackles Farm Market and Pineville Cattle Company along with door prizes which included crockpots and Casa Tequila gift cards.
After working together to create supper, the parents and students separated in order to enjoy specific activities geared to each group.
Mr. Heafner taught tips and strategies to parents about handling their children's big emotions while the students danced and played in the gym.
Thank you to all of the families who attended and to the PHS students who spent their evening volunteering at this event.

D.J. Jeremy kept the dance floor packed while kiddos were able to paint rocks, play glow in the dark games, have their faces painted, and enjoy yummy treats.
